On May 29, 2015, Venzella Joy released her first project, entitled, “Orange Moon: The Unwritten Phase (EP).” This EP is also a first for Venzella as she bursts out of the box of her role as a world renowned drummer.
Venzella says, “Conceptually, ‘Orange Moon’ was inspired by seeing the actual lunar eclipse…What was cool to me, was though the color of the moon changed, it was still emitting light. In doing some light research, I realized that I was like the orange moon, always shining and emitting the light that God placed inside of me.”
Full writing and production credits on this project are attributed to Venzella Joy.
Growing up, and even as a touring musician, Venzella Joy has always had a deep-seated desire to reveal her versatility as an artist and producer. As a matter of fact, she spends a large portion of her free time working in the studio or working in her basement on pre-production in preparation for the studio. From an early age, she began honing her writing and producing skills as a part of an all girl gospel band, known as Heaven Bound. More recently, Venzella received co-producer credits on B. Slade’s “My September Reissue,” released in September 2014. Shortly thereafter, she thought it fitting to give the world a slight peek into the creations she had been so hard at work on.
On this EP, Venzella elicited the help of a few musician friends, including keyboardist/producer Micki Miller and guitarist Bibi McGill, a fellow member of Beyonce Carter’s tour band.
Venzella Joy is currently in California promoting her project and is accepting more dates to add to the “Orange Moon: The Unwritten Phase (EP)” Promo Tour. She is also looking forward to adding more writer and producer credits to her body of work.
Catch her performing at DIVERSA, tomorrow 6/25, here in Los Angeles!
