1839 Magazine Takes a Closer Look at Thomas Agnew of JENESIS Magazine x Boom Concepts [INTERVIEW]

1839 Magazine sits down with Thomas Agnew of JENESIS Magazine and discuses his past contributions,  current projects and future goals.

If you aren’t sure who Thomas is by way of Flagrant City, let me catch you up to speed just a bit. He has run the Pittsburgh-based online magazine publication JENESIS for over 8 years now. He is an avid graphic designer, crafting fliers, album covers, etc for brands and artists alike. Thomas did he the artwork for our first Illicit Activities mixtape in 2010 and our most recent cover for the 6th installment this past April.

He is also a supporter of Dirty Logan artist Fernandough the Poet who is a featured artist on JENESIS. He has also handled the artwork for several of his projects, including The OJ Simpson Tape which was released in 2010.

Recently he opened Boom Concepts, which is a local art gallery in Pittsburgh where he is able to host events, and further promote his brands.  Read more in his interview below!

JENESIS Magazine Presents “Pimpin’ Wit K.R.I.T.” with Big K.R.I.T. [INTERVIEW]

What does 32 Below, The Fantastic Four, a 86 Monte Carlo, and Bobby Womack’s “Across 110th Street” have to do with Big K.R.I.T.?

Instead of talking about music, Jenesis Magazine decided to talk to K.R.I.T. about one of his favorite subject matters, Pimpin’.

They ask K.R.I.T. what his pimp name would be, what he would name his stable of hoes, what he would say if his hoes was actin up, and we learn how B.B. King’s “Lucille” is highly significant to him, and how The Mack influences a lot of his music.

JENESIS Magazine Launches Indiegogo – JENESIS 2.0 “Re-Launched & Re-Loaded” Project [CAMPAIGN]

JENESIS is revamping. And they need our help.  Take a moment out of ya busy day to check out what the hottest online indie publication has done in their last 5 years…

JENESIS Magazine has just launched its 2.0 Re-launched and Re-loaded project on the popular fundraising platform, Indiegogo. The project will go towards continuing our presence as a platform that first stepped in 2007 and focused on the future leaders who were involved in music, art, philanthropy, clothing, sports, and more in the Pittsburgh area such as Wiz Khalifa, Mac Miller, Jasiri X, Darrelle Revis, + many others.

Shortly after, their reach spread as they covered Joe Budden, Asher Roth, B.o.B, Kevin Hart, Angela Yee, Wale, DOM Kennedy, + others that aided in their National growth.

JENESIS’ goal with this project is to become more interactive with its features and readers. That includes more visual contributions, creating more mentoring opportunities, and special development projects. With the potential re-launch of their website in 2013, We hope this effort will put us in the right situation to make vast improvements and become the next well known urban publication.

Sir Michael Rocks on the Cover of JENESIS Magazine’s September Issue [ARTICLE]

He’s Mikey. He rocks. Cool Kid extraordinaire Sir Michael Rocks graces the September issue of my favorite indie magazine, JENESIS. Check out the full feature below.

(Cover and feature shot by Ten Photos)

Yeah it’s been a while since their last issue but it was for good reason. With that said…

This month JENESIS is featuring The Cool Kids member and Toothpick Clique leader Sir Michael Rocks. Also since signing with Jet Life Recordings last October, Sir Michael has been hard at work releasing Premier Politics 1 & 1.5 and Lap of Lux which recently released in August. Charne Graham spoke with him about the signing, his fashion sense that Mac Miller said he “doesn’t get enough credit for,” and releasing music as a solo artist which he explains “I mean, I liked my stuff I did as a member of The Cool Kids but this is more exciting to me because I know exactly what I want it to sound like.

This issue also features Brother Ali, Taylor Gang’s Courtney Noelle, ANTHM (NYC), Problem (LA), DJ YS, Lo Thraxx, Rich & Fameus, Arima Ederra, Haer Brain Schemes (Be Awear), + More
