I have had the devout pleasure of meeting this beautiful young lady last summer in LA, as I took trips from NorCal to SoCal on weekends where I wasn’t working. Aneesa Al-Musawwir, born in Oakland, CA currently studies at the University of Southern California, and is an intense bassist, vocalist and ambitious soul.
As she embarks on the next chapter in her life, she introduces herself to the world. A Shift In Paradigm will be her first solo, studio album, which will be available for purchase in June of 2014.

I had the distinct pleasure of being at the premiere screening for this video on Tuesday, August 6th, 2013 at the Vincent Price Art Museum, due to my good friend, Jackee, having a good friend, Catherine Carter, who got us in VIP.
Presented by Mucho More, this night was definitely an evening to remember, as the museum was filled with photos of the band, a merchandise table with countless Las Cafeteras gear, and a photo booth for capturing memories using props related to the band.
Las Cafeteras is a “hard-to-describe” Chicano band, with the spirit of collectiveness, positivity and a message of social awareness.
From the album, It’s Time Available now on iTunes!
So I’m new to this, sue me (late pass). Just moved to LA 2 weeks ago, and my boys Deuce Ellis, DJ Tiger and Te’Amir (drummer for Aloe Blacc) checked out this event the weekend we touched down. I didn’t go, as I was getting settled and acclimated in my new city, so I took a raincheck. Unfortunately, I missed an awesome day of fun, rage, good music and great people.
So, to cure all things Do-Over, I will be attending this coming Sunday, with friends or by my DoLowe, whichever comes first. This runs through the end of the summer and there are also shows in NYC and other cities throughout the US.
Its FREE to play, and there are drink specials from 2 to 4p to get you warmed up.
